Terminate termite detection and killing stakes contains:
- killing and detection stakes;
- digging tool;
- instruction booklet;
- graph paper.
Attention! Terminate termite stakes is aimed at killing Subterranean termites.As far as Terminate termite detection and killing stakes is supposed to be located around the house, like the majority of similar bait systems will only protect your house from Subterranean termites.

How does it work?
When you realize that you need to protect your house from possible termite infestation, you will have to think of an effective termite bait system.
The system works like the majority of other professional termite bait systems: first, you will have to install the product and detect termite presence.
It has very useful pop-up mechanism which indicates when the stake is attacked by termites. This termite bait system contains special ingredient which is called TransFlur.
This chemical is a slow-acting one, that is why termites will not die immediately and there will be some time for termites to transfer the poison to the rest of the colony. For that reason you will not see dead termites inside of the stake; they will be underground.Installation and usage
Before you begin installation you have to determine the areas where the bait system is to be installed.
Said another way, how many stakes you need and where to place them.
The number of stakes which you need will be determined by the size of your house. There is a special graph paper which goes with the system which you can use.
This graph will help you to remember the places of your stakes (you can draw stakes on the graph).
For one-story home which is about 1200 square feet (and less) you will need approximately 10 stakes. The same number of stakes will be needed for two-story house which is up to 1500 square feet. If your one-story house is more than 1200 square feet, you will need 20 stakes.
For two-story home which is more than 1500 square feet you will need 20 stakes as well.
The stakes are to be located around the house, approximately 2-3 feet away from it. Make intervals no more than 10 feet from each other. If you place stakes in the area where termites are more likely to appear (near doors, pipes, firewood, etc.), you can add additional stakes or simply locate the stakes closer to each other.
In order to place the stake, you will need to dig a hole in the ground. There is a special digging tool which comes with Terminate termite detection and killing stakes and which makes digging process easier. When you insert a digging tool into the soil, it will be better to twist the tool only about five times.
If you twist it more, it will be difficult to take the tool out of the ground. Repeat as many times as you need, until you make a hole approximately seven inches deep. When you finish twisting, you will have to take all the soil out; otherwise you will not be able to install the stake.
And of course, if you find this digging tool uncomfortable, you can always use your own one. Do not forget to install the stakes into the ground after taking the soil out.
Remember, that you must never dig a hole in places where you have gas, electricity, water or other utility lines underground. Furthermore, the stakes must not be placed in the areas which have been chemically treated against termites.Here you can learn more information about effective termite control remedies: Bora-Care, Boric acid, Borate, Fipronil, Chlorpyrifos, Chlordane, Borax, Timbor, Termidor, Terminator, Phantom, Lorsban, Biflex, Terro. You can choose different forms, such as – foam, liquid, powder.
What to do if you see termite presence in the stake?
When termites start their attack, Terminate termite detection and killing stakes will indicate you with a special tool which pops-up.
Fortunately, this bait system has comfortable locator shield which protects the stake and makes it easier for you to take out the stake for inspection.
Do not forget to check the stake every three months if you are fighting Subterranean termites. Other termites (such as Formosan termites, for example) need more frequent inspection.

When you take out the stake, you need to inspect it carefully and check whether there are any damages inside or not. If you see any (even small) damages on the wood inside of the stake, that means that termites are present.
If there are no damages at all, that means that there are no termites in this area, or the colony has not found the stake yet. If you see that there are only less than 50 percent of the stake is eaten, there is no need to replace the stake with a new one.
In addition, when you find termite presence, you will have to place additional stakes to the ground. If the stake had not been attacked by termites, you can use it for one year.Useful articles

Final decision
Terminate termite detection and killing stakes is to be used in the areas where termites are more likely to appear. Unlike the majority of other termite bait systems, Terminate termite detection and killing stakes needs additional stakes when termites are detected.
Furthermore, this system cannot be used as a single remedy against termites; it needs some additional treatment, for example a liquid one.
At the same time additional treatment should be installed or applied carefully because Terminate termite detection and killing stakes cannot be installed too close to another termite killing system, and therefore if there was any liquid treatment of the soil, another place for a stake should be chosen.
In addition, Terminate termite detection and killing stakes may help to detect only Subterranean termites presence. Formosan termites, for example, will need more effective treatment system.
On the other hand, Terminate termite detection and killing stakes belongs to do-it-yourself termite bait systems which means that this bait system may be installed by yourself and there is no need to ask professional pest control companies for the help.
Furthermore, Terminate termite detection and killing stakes is easy-in-use, has special pop-up mechanism which indicates termite presence and is relatively cheaper than other professional termite bait systems.Terminate termite detection and killing stakes is effective when you are just planning to detect termite presence but will not help against massive termite attack. This leads to the conclusion that most probably additional expenses will appear. For example, spending money on other treatment ways or on a professional pest control service.
